Join our Symposium on Arts, Ageing and Activism

Following the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons on 1st October we are bringing older people together with leaders, decision makers and funders to discuss creating change through art with experience of age.

The United Nations declared that population ageing is a universal phenomenon with virtually every country in the world experiencing growth in both the size and the proportion of older people in the population. With this in mind we are concluding our 1001 Stories Project with a Symposium, bringing together 100 people with a majority aged 55 and over, to discuss how we ensure older people live the best life possible for as long as possible. Our event will be opened on Monday 9th October with a welcome from our venue at Imagine Leeds and our Artistic Director, Alan Lyddiard. We will share stories from John Fox and Sue Gill pictured below (in photograph by David Lindsay from Opening Night of our takeover of Leeds Playhouse):

Then we will begin discussions based on priorities identified by everyone in attendance with a view to carrying our ideas forward in the future activities of key organisations and structures such as Leeds’ Age Friendly Partnership.
